Bearing on his sterling performance and achievements in terms of human capital development, accessibility, infrastructure, tourism and other development strides in the past 3 years, the Chairmanship Candidate Mr. Akaniyene Tommey has consolidated the support of Central 7 and 2, assuring the people that more will come.
In his remarks at the residence of the Village Head of Odio, Chief Samuel Charles Ekaso, the chairmanship hopeful expressed that the people’s interests are his priority and he needs to be accessible.
“Living with my people is of importance to me, achieving that isn’t an easy choice to make. But I made that decision so as to be accessible. Odio will benefit in this regime and Eket generally in this new era of leadership”.
“Some of the programmes that are within our powers as a Local Government Authority, we will surely deliver to serve the people. We will focus on women empowerment and Odio women will greatly benefit”, he promised.
The village head of Odio, Chief Samuel Charles Ekaso, at his residence had pledged to vote for PDP candidates and to ensure Akan Tommey is reelected as the chairman.
“It is the sterling antecedents of Akaniyene Tommey that has earned him the people’s trust to rally around him and support him for his second term”.
The leaders of Ward 7 Central pledged their full support for Akaniyene Tommey and to vote for PDP.
Mr. Akaniyene Tommey who began his political journey as a Councillor representing the erstwhile Central 2, had a homecoming during the campaign tour in Central 2.
Recall his representation as Councillor, the Chairmanship Candidate assured the people of Central 2 that he will again make them proud.
The Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Frank Archibong, while presenting the Chairmanship Candidate highlighted the benefits he will serve.
“I am presenting an individual who will bring about improved Education, Health Care, and man who will defend us, a man that has given us a magnificent edifice, Eket City Hall, an individual that will transform people and build capacity “.
“Akaniyene Tommey is a candidate of concern to the Governor, Umo Eno, that was why the Governor appealed to Eket people for his reelection”.

The wife of the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Dr. Mrs. Bright Archibong, Transition Chairman, Hon. Comfort Emmanuel, wife of the Chairmanship Candidate, Mrs Maryann Tommey, and Lady Glory Ikott, in their remarks thanked Gov. Umo Eno, Eket Stakeholders for giving women the opportunity to produce Vice Chairman and councillors.
“We thank our leaders for the opportunity given to us as women to produce a female vice chairman and five female councillors. We don’t take this opportunity for granted. Without your support this wouldn’t come to play. Our women will not disappoint you. We envisage a productive administration through our contributions. We will vote for PDP”, Mrs Archibong said.
The women endorsed Akaniyene Tommey and pledged to support him.
