He has lived a fractional part of his life in Alabama, a bubbling State in the Southeastern United States of America, on the gulf of Mexico. He knows almost everything and every corner of the cities in Alabama.

One day, a very prominent Nigerian, from Akwa Ibom State, visited the United States of America on a business visa. After a one month of business negotiations with his American partners, the Akwa Ibom born business man found himself in a fix, hot kettle of fish. The American business partners demanded for a Nigerian who is resident in America and who can help their new-found business partner sign a guarantor form, for the shipment of some industrial consignment, to Nigeria, on differed payment. If the transaction fails, the Akwa business mogul will lose huge amount of money. His bankers failed him. Mr Akaninyene Tommey was the only reliable trustee available. Without minding to know much about his Akwa Ibom business brother, he signed the form and sealed a very successful business which is striving today in Nigeria with over two thousand employees. The boy resident in Alabama became a destiny changer not only to the CEO of the company but to thousands who have today benefited from his signature, as employees.

Mr Akaninyene Tommey later became known as 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐛𝐨𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐦𝐚. His friends and loved ones preferred to call him 𝐀𝐋𝐀𝐁𝐀, an abridged name for the State of Alabama. The name has stocked since then.

Today, Akaninyene Tommey, 𝐀𝐋𝐀𝐁𝐀, is a flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for Eket LGA in the forthcoming local government election, having festooned his duties creditably, in his first term as executive chairman of the council area and winding up as a Transition Committee chairman.

His entrance into politics was a culmination of many factors. The foremost being his quest to contribute to the development of Akwa Ibom State, given his vast knowledge of the world. He has lived in advanced environments. His hunger for a transplant of those advanced societies back home to Akwa Ibom State has always been the burning passion of his life. Destiny played a big role in his emergency as the executive chairman of Eket local government area, four years ago, after his stewardship as the councilor representing Ward 2 Central. Mr Destiny is still at work with the intelligent young man.

With the coming of full autonomy for the local government areas in Nigeria, the local government chairmen will now be given a free hand to holistically implement their blueprint without hindrance from the State governors. The local government areas are States by themselves, within the States. If the States within the States witness infrastructure and other economic development, the country automatically becomes a developed nation.

So, in a strong portentous desire to transform Eket local government area into a business hob and a destination pot for investors, using his national and international connections, Rt Hon Akaninyene Tommey has entered into a covenant with the people. A covenant is an informal or a signed written agreement between two or more parties to perform some action. The agreement can not be implemented unless both parties perform their contractual obligations. The people must first vote for Akaninyene Tommey on Saturday October 5, 2024. Thereafter, Tommey will have no excuse not to keep with the terms of the agreement. yt

It is hereby important for the people to know of the content in the agreement.

(1) 𝐑𝐭 𝐇𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐤𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐲𝐞𝐧𝐞 𝐓𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐲 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐚 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐚𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐬 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐲 𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬. Meaning, once in office, he will not work as a PDP chairman but as a leader for all residents of Eket and the 12 political Parties that participated in the local government election.

(2) 𝐑𝐭 𝐇𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐤𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐲𝐞𝐧𝐞 𝐓𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐲 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐚 𝐯𝐢𝐦 𝐨𝐟 𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐡𝐮𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐝𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭. Meaning, with uninterrupted funds from the Federation Account at his disposal, together with a robust relationship with the legislature, he will do more than his first tenure, in terms of development.

(3) 𝐑𝐭 𝐇𝐨𝐧 𝐀𝐤𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐲𝐞𝐧𝐞 𝐓𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐲 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐯𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐚 𝐟𝐨𝐨𝐭𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞. Meaning, he will plant a project or scheme that can never be obliterated out of existence by mankind’s march into a new world, no matter the political climate.

There are indications that the people of Eket will keep to their own part of the covenant. They will vote for the home boy of Alabama, Rt Hon Akan Tom. There are signs also that the people will give their mandate to all the PDP councilorship candidates on Saturday October 5, because PDP has enshrined itself as a religion in Eket. The local government gave governor Umo Eno the highest votes in Eket Senatorial District during the 2023 guber election.

Will ALABA be able to keep to the covenant he has made with the people, given the short period of 3 years as chairman of council?. Yes, it is possible if he gets the cooperation of the legislature and the people themselves. But above all, just as every leader, he needs our prayers. We have been admonished to always pray for our leaders. 1 Timothy 2:1-4. 𝐋𝐄𝐓𝐒 𝐊𝐄𝐄𝐏 𝐇𝐎𝐏𝐄 𝐀𝐋𝐈𝐕𝐄.
