It was a homecoming for the Peoples Democratic Party Chairmanship Candidate, Mr. Akaniyene Tommey, during the Grand Finale of PDP Campaign Ward Tour today in Central 3.
The Campaign which took place at the Ward center, Government Primary School Idung Iniang, Eket, brightened PDP’s prospect of winning Saturday’s Local Government Polls for all its candidates.
Speaking during the rally, the Chapter Chairman, Hon. Uso Hanson, quizzed the people, “I hope you know this is your own son, the candidate of the party, there is no way you wouldn’t vote for him”.
“Come Saturday, 5 October, you have to vote for him. Vote PDP. His experience is enormous, as a Councillor, Chairman and now reelected”.
“He will bring development both in infrastructure and human capital. He will engage and empower the women especially traders”, he assured.
The wife of the Chairmanship Candidate, Mrs Maryann Tommey, who presented the Councillorship candidate, flanked by wife of the political leader of Central 3, Mrs. Idem Godsown Inemesit, Lady Glory Ikott, thanked Governor Umo Eno, Eket Stakeholders for giving women the opportunity to serve.
In a significant way to honour Akan Tommey as a son of the Ward, the Village Heads of Idung Iniang, represented by the Village Head of Afaha Odoroenen, Chief Paul Akpan, flanked by the prospective Village Head of Odoro Enen, Mr. George Enodien, presented a staff of authority and a traditional Cap, indicating authority and kingship, as he ascends the throne as the Chairman of Eket Local Government.
Similarly, the women of Central 3, girded the Vice Chairmanship Candidate Mrs. Inyang Akpawan, with a wrapper material, assuring her that, they will support her to be effective in the administration of Akaniyene Tommey.
The ward stakeholders represented by the Ward Leader, Chief Iniobong Idem, Ward Chairman, Hon. Kingsley Ikott, EARCOM Commissioner 2, Dr. Tommy Enodien, presented a light-stand to the chairmanship candidate, illustrating a message of light to his leadership, and as a symbol of achievement and development.
Responding, the chairmanship Candidate, Mr. Akaniyene Tommey appreciated Central 3 for the support and thanked all Eket people for standing by throughout the campaign ward tour.
He promised to protect the interests of the people and to bring development to Eket people.
The rally revealed the preparation of the PDP to be victorious on Saturday polls for all candidates of the party in Eket Local Government.
In a similar development, none indigenes of Eket Local Government, during consultation engagement lauded the Chairmanship Candidate for maintaining peace and security, adding that, his policy has enhanced productivity and creates an enabling business environment.
They thanked Governor Umo Eno and Akaniyene Tommey for giving them a sense of belonging and integrating them into the political structure in Eket Local Government.
In their vote of confidence, they pledged to vote for PDP on Saturday.
