The Deputy Speaker, Abia State House of Assembly and House Committee Chairman on Media and Publicity,Rt Hon Augustine Okezie has described the 8th Assembly as proactive and shall do all that is within their legislative purview to take their oversight functions seriously.
Briefing select journalists on activities of the Assembly thus far, Rt Hon Okezie said the Greater Aba Development Authority Law, Abia State 2024 Appropriation Law and the Abia State of Nigeria Local Government 2023 Appropriation Law for a Bye Law are enacted Laws by the 8th Assembly while Bills including a Bill to provide for the conversion of Abia State Polytechnic to University of Aba, a Bill for a Law to Establish Industrial Clusters in the Three Senatorial Districts, the Abia State Safety and Order Agency Bill among others are at concluding stages and Resolutions numbering over 30 have been made.
Fielding questions, the Media and Publicity Committee Czar said as regards the Abia State House of Assembly Service Commission, the Governor of Abia State, Dr Alex Chioma Otti OFR has given assurances the Commission will be announced and constituted early 2024.
On Executive and Legislative relationship, the Umuahia East Congress Man said the Executive has been cooperative, hinting the synergy has been mutual.
On the 2024 budget, Rt Hon Augustine Okezie said the 8th House believes Abia State shall experience massive transformation which is targeted will bring the development so much clamoured by Abians to fruition.
