ASOPADEC takes bold step to boost food security
The Abia State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ASOPADEC) has distributed agricultural inputs comprising improved bundles of cassava stems, parks of corn and maize seedlings to some communities of Ukwa East LGA as part of its efforts to enhance food security.
Handing over the inputs to the beneficiaries, mostly, rural women, the Chairman of ASOPADEC, Ven. Dr Joshua Onyeike said that the exercise empowered by the State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti,OFR will guarantee bumper farm produce and food security.
Ven Onyeike represented by the Director of Social Welfare, Mrs. Amarachi Isaac-Nwachukwu therefore charged the people to embrace agriculture and particularly enjoined the beneficiaries to make good use of the inputs.
While outlining some of the achievements of Commission in the area to include provision of water boreholes to the rural communities Abaki, Ohandu and Akanu Ndoki, reconstruction of a civic hall at Eti and scholarships to indigent students of the area, Ven Onyeoke promised that the Commission will bring more developmental projects to the area. 
Baring their minds, some of the beneficiarie, including, Nwagbaso Otuechere, Blessing Nwakanma and chinasokwu Ubani appreciated the Governor, Dr Alex Otti and the General Manager of ASOPADEC, Venerable Dr. Joshua Onyeike for remembering them in the scheme of things and pledged their unflinching support to the present administration in the State.
The distribution exercise featured a sensitization lecture on the proper application of the inputs delivered by an agricultural expert in the Commission, Mr Rowland Nwamuo.
