In a grand show of communal support, the Abiriba Communal Improvement Union (ACIU) hosted Governor Dr. Alex Otti at the Enyimba International Stadium in Aba, where he made bold announcements that could transform Abia State’s economy and energy landscape.
Otti revealed that his administration has initiated discussions with AMCON to buy back the moribund Star Paper Mill, a once‑booming industrial hub that powered Aba’s economic growth. “I grew up here… I knew how important the mill was to Nigeria,” the governor emphasized, reassuring residents:
“Under our watch, Star Paper Mill will be back.”
Otti further stated his government is negotiating to take over Abia North and Umuahia’s power ring-fence from the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC). “We’ll restore constant power to all of Ohafia soon,” he pledged.
