2027: Atiku led coalition gains more ground
The much talked about Atiku Abubakar led coalition may have started shaking the political terrain for the 2027 general elections as the All Progressives Congress (APC) Support Groups led by Ismaila Abu Ishaq have formally thrown their support behind former Vice President’s group.
Announcing the decision this Thursday while speaking with Journalists after visiting Atiku, Ishaq, who was once a member of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, said the movement will be known as the Coalition for Project Rescue Nigeria 2027.
He explained that the Coalition was a collective determination to rescue Nigeria from the APC leadership which has failed the people.
According to him, the group aims to rally behind a tested, credible, and visionary leader capable of rescuing the country from lingering challenges such as insecurity, crumbling infrastructure, economic downturn, poverty, and hunger.
“The Coalition for Project Rescue Nigeria 2027 will not just be a campaign vehicle, but a national salvation effort,” Ishaq asserted, “to ensure that Nigeria returns to the days of unity, progress and prosperity.”
Receiving his guests, former vice president, Atiku Abubakar vowed to offer mentorship, particularly for young Nigerians eager to reclaim their nation’s future and lamented over the current state of the economy.
In a related development, the gale of defections sweeping through the Katsina State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has taken a new dimension as about 263 former aspirants of the party have declared for their support for the Atiku Abubakar led coalition that will dethrone APC in the 2027 polls.
The defectors include 25 former state House of Assembly aspirants, 13 chairmanship and 225 councilorship aspirants on the platform of the PDP during the 2023 general election.
The group, under which has a former Secretary to the Katsina State Government, Dr. Mustapha Mohammed Inuwa, as the leader is reported to have been working behind the scenes to form a political party to unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.
Speaking on behalf of the 25 former state Assembly aspirants, Jamilu Yahaya said they left the PDP because it no longer acts in the interest of the Nigerians.
Contributing, the chairman of 2023 local government chairmanship aspirants, Yasir Ibrahim, said they are now working with the coalition because of the leadership crisis rocking the PDP in the state.
Speaking on behalf of , the 2023 councilorship aspirants in the state on the platform of the PDP, its chairman, Hon. Aminu Usman, said the 225 of them will ensure the defeat of the APC in 2027.
