A Bill for a Law to to Establish the Abia State Cocoa Development and Marketing Board and for other related matters has gone through it’s First Reading.
The Deputy Speaker, Abia State House of Assembly and House Committee Chairman on Media and Publicity, Rt Hon Augustine Okezie who is the Chief Sponsor of the Bill said the Bill is a significant step towards boosting Abia’s agricultural sector and it’s attendant positives in it’s value chains.
Rt Hon Augustine Okezie further hinted that the piece of Legislation shall usher in a new era of growth, sustainability and prosperity for the cocoa industry in Abia State.
The House Committee Chairman on Media and Publicity said the Bill is birthed as a form of support to cocoa farmers through cultivation, processing and marketing which he said is a pedestal towards investing in the future of Abia State.
