Afaha Atai Village Commends Gov Eno’s Commitment in Educational Infrastructure
…Endorses him, Akaniyene Tommey for second term
The people of Afaha Atai Village in Eket local government area have commended the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno for his personal commitment to educational infrastructure and advancement.

They lauded the Governor ARISE Agenda of his administration, maintaining that it will help to strengthen inclusive economic growth and development in Afaha Atai community.
Speaking in a Press Conference at Government Primary School Afaha Atai, the Village Head-elect, Chief Bassey Enobong, commended Governor Umo Eno for renovating the primary school, constructing a perimeter fence and drilling a bore hole for the school in fulfillment of his promise to the community.
Text of the Press Conference reads in parts, “We wish to applaud and commend the Executive Governor of the state, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno for his personal commitment and that of his administration towards ensuring educational advancement in our community.
“Your Excellency, Afaha Atai community is appreciative of the ARISE Agenda of your administration which stands for Agricultural Revolution, Rural Development, Infrastructural Maintenance/Advancement, Security Management and Educational Advancement. It is the hope of Afaha Atai people that this would further help to strengthen the inclusive economic growth and development in our community.

Speaking further, Chief Enobong thanked the Governor for his laudable efforts in renovating the Afaha Atai Government Primary School, noting that the remodelled/renovated project is a testament of the Governor commitment to improve educational infrastructure and provide conducive learning environment for their children.
While commending the Governor for appointment of their political leader, Chief Assam Assam, SAN as DG of Government Business, and other appointees, they appealed to him to provide more classroom blocks at Government Secondary School Afaha Atai to accommodate the overflowing student population, construction of abandoned Afaha Atai -Ikot Ibiok Road and Health Center Road to alleviate the suffering of the people in the area.
They also extended belated birthday wishes to Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mkpisong Frank Archibong.
“On this note, we pledge our support to Governor Umo Eno’s “ARISE Agenda” and endorse him for a second term in office come 2027. We thank the Transition Chairman of Eket Local Government Area, Rt. Hon. Mkpisong Akaniyene Tommey Ikott for his purposeful leadership and adopt him for a second term in office,” Chief Enobong submitted.
Speaking also, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Electronic Media, Elder Iniobong Akpan, appreciated the Governor for keeping to his promise by renovating the school and putting a perimeter fence for the security of the pupils, noting that his action has endeared him to the people of Afaha Atai community.
He also appealed to the Chief Executive to swap the secondary school with the primary school due to influx of students, pleading that the road linking Afaha Atai with Ikot Ibiok should be considered for construction.
“I want to commend the Governor of Akwa Ibom State for fulfilling the promise he made to Afaha Atai community especially during my mother inlaw burial. It just turned out that less than a year all of that promise has come to fulfillment and the primary school has gotten a new face, renovated and painted within a very good record time.
“I am a resident of that community and I know how happy they are, from the Chief to every single person there. They are all glad that the Governor has fulfilled his promise.
“Though, we also appeal for the adjoining roads for the Governor to take a look at and we know he will. The community has also appeal that the secondary school be swapped as there is influx of students. On the whole, I want to thank His Excellency for being a promise and do Governor for what he has done for Afaha Atai community and I want to say may God bless him. For sure, that community is already standing firm for his second term and for all other progressive leadership.
The Head Teacher of the school, Mrs Justina Okon Jacob, in her goodwill message commended the Governor for the recent renovation of all the blocks in Government Primary School Afaha Atai including perimeter fence, toilet for both staff and pupils, borehold and solar panel, noting that his leadership has brought tremendous progress in educational environment, peace and unity in the state.
A prominent son of the area and businessman, Mr. Nelson Etukakpan expressed profound joy for the project executed in the area, saying “the realization of this particular dream is a boost to His Excellency and the community at large.”
He opined that though the Governor cannot do everything for them, urging the people to still keep pushing until it comes.
“As it stand, they have mentioned a few things that we don’t have here. Possibly there is no way the Governor will do everything for us, but let us understand that we should keep pushing until it comes and I know very well with the kind of Governor we have today, he is going to listen to us and I pray that whatever we have ask today, it will come to be in Jesus name.
Also speaking, the Managing Director of Aniesmania Resources Ltd, the contracting firm that handled the project, Mr Aniedi Udoh, commended Afaha Atai community for embracing development and cooperating with the contractor, assuring them that more signature projects will come to the community.
The Chairman of the Village Council, Chief Elder Samuel Udobong, thanked Governor Eno for impactful leadership, appealing for the confirmation of Village Head-elect so as to attract more development programmes to the community.
In their separate remarks, the Family Head of Nung Udobong, Chief Anietie Udobong, Youth President, Obong Monday James, Woman Leader, Obonganwan Eno David, and others all lauded Governor Umo Eno for remembering Afaha Atai community that have suffered neglect over the years, appealing for his intervention to construct Ikot Ibiok-Afaha Atai for ease of movemement, praying God to protect him and sustain him for eight years.
