Unleasing inherent potentials in agriculture in Bende North State Constituency shall form part of the legislative thrust in the representation of the people.
In his new year interaction with select newsmen, Hon Nnamdi Chimdi Ibekwe, Member, Bende North State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly said the agricultural innovations of Bende North State Constituency are yet untapped and the major reason the Oziomachi Foundation, through it’s agricultural intervention programs is bringing closer to the people of Umunnato, newest techniques in agriculture, which is capable of tripling the revenue base of Abia State at large and also keeping the people meaningfully engaged for self and societal sustenance.
The House Committee Chairman on Finance also highlighted he is, through personal funding, constructing a 250 metre drainage with a 23 metre culvert to check erosion in Umunnato and the institution of an Education Endowment Fund in the Abia State University to cushion the effects of the prevailing economic situation for Bende North Constituents.
The Agriculture Educationist also further hinted that he had set up palm oil mills in Ugwueke and Igbere Communities to further bring to bare agricultural value chains in Bende North State Constituency, adding that the 2024 Legislative Year shall see to more robust and people based legislation, buttressing that actionable legislative inputs shall be part of his thrust in 2024.
“I do not make promises, rather shall do what is right for me to do. Our interventions are economic based, targeted at creating employment for Umunna teeming youths, for women and men to have assess to harvesting their farm produce because Agriculture in Bende North is an area of comparative advantage. We will continue with that and also ensure that the core needs of Bende North Constituents are brought to focus in the Budget via legislative intervention and astute representation. We will continue to let the world know that agricultural potentials in Bende North are enormous, with the sole aim of bringing our Constituency to international reckoning.’
Hon Ibekwe said Bende North has huge potentials in Cocoa, Rice, Cassava, Oil Palm with it’s value chains in tiles making, brake pad manufacturing and lots more, calling on Nigerians at large and expatriates to explore the huge opportunities in his Constituency to invest therein, highlighting also massive opportunities in ginger farming, adding that a pilot farm for tomatoes has kick-started, hence the sensitization going on in Bende North.
Hon Nnamdi Ibekwe ADMONISHES Abians to hold their leaders accountable rather than dwelling on the mentality of entitlement, adding that the demand for transparency from political leaders will stimulate effective leadership, making them more accountable to the people as the real welders of power.
