AKHA C’TTEE ON APPROPRIATION AND FINANCE INTERFACES MDAs
Deputy Chief Whip of Akwa Ibom state House of Assembly and Member representing Oruk Anam state Constituency Hon Sampson Idiong, joined the Chairman House of Assembly Committee on Appropriation and Finance and other members of the Committee on Monday, November 25th, 2024, interfaced with the stakeholders of various ministries, departments, and Agencies in the state over a Bill by the State government to augment the 2024 Budget.
Chaired by the Honourable Member representing Uruan State Constituency, Hon. Dr. Itorobong Etim , the lawmaker stated during her opening remarks that the stakeholders engagement was necessary in order to meticulously deliberate on the proposed Revised Budget for the year ending on December 31, 2024, so as to better scrutinize and understand the contents of the supplementary budget for further legislative action.
Hon. Etim, who expressed the committee’s readiness to see to the speedy passage of the bill, appreciated the members of the committee and the stakeholders for their prompt response.
In his part, the Commissioner for Finance, Dr. Linus Nkan, while giving reasons for the Revised Budget as sent by His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, on November 19th, 2024, stressed that the proposed Revised Budget has an augmented figure of 73,491,516,890, from an initial approved sum of 849,970,759,990, totaling N923,462,276,880. He solicited the committee’s consideration and approval.
Equally, the Honourable Commissioner for Economic Development, Mr. Emem Bob, appreciated the committee’s chairman, Hon. Itorobong Etim, her team, and the 8th Assembly for their prompt attention during budgeting.
He particularly highlighted some key indicators that affect the Medium Term Expenditure Framework, MTEF, and stressed the need for the Revised Budget.
