ATTRACTION AND CHARISMA VS BUBUYAYA IN BENDE POLITICS by HENRY MADUBUIKE
Politics is dynamic and all manners of alignment and realignment are not strange, after all, some have opined that political parties are mere vehicles boarded with the intention of porting at a favourable political destination. Bende is in the news as both candidates in the State House of Assembly elections have jumped ship.
Okey Iboko identified the charismatic and leadership acumen of Rt Hon Benjamin Kalu as part of his reason for dumping YPP. It was no fluke though many did not see the above as strong enough deduction, alluding some form of political gimmick.
Now, Ugochukwu Nwankwo of the Ukwu Isii divide of Bende has waved a bye to same YPP, though his next port of call is yet to be unveiled. Ugo Bende , as he likes to be identified, has been around for sometime and can give a good account of himself where and when need be.
Comfortably, both are my friends though blood ties between Iboko and I are more pronounced.
I doubt if Benjamin Kalu has ever had a one on one interaction with the duo but both have always at any point in time, spoken admirably about the incumbent Deputy Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives.
There is a REVOLUTION, politically speaking going on in Bende and at the fore is a man who does not mis/double speak, presently a rallying point in the political configuration of the South East. An Army of willing volunteers are lining up, gearing to ‘march down Babylon’.
What could be the issue with YPP in Abia, though the standard bearer in the just concluded gubernatorial election, Abia wise, Engr Enyinnaya Nwafor is a respectable gentleman, made visible and indelible impressions in people’s lives while his running mate, Dr Desmond China Anyaso, with his stupendously deep pockets, ordinarily was expected to run over Bende North and South State Constituencies but what transpired during the election was somewhat strange. Conversely, Nana Nwafor took delivery of both State Constituencies in Osisioma.
Poser: Was leadership lacking in Bende YPP? Has solace been found in Rt Hon Benjamin Kalu’s performance within his 4-Year stint?
Guess all you want!
The train of a shift of paradigm is on the move. What are you waiting for, Ndi Bende?
