Breaking: COURT OF APPEAL REAFFIRMS Asue Ighodalo AS EDO PDP GUBER CANDIDATE
The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has reaffirmed the nomination of Asue Ighodalo as Governorship Candidate of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP) in Edo State.
In a unanimous judgement delivered by Justice U. A Musali in the suit between PDP vs. Hon. Kevin Mohammed & 5 ors and marked CA/ABJ/CV/763/2024, the Appeal court held that the February 22 primaries of the PDP in Edo State, which produced Dr Asue Ighodalo as Governorship Candidate of the PDP was validly and lawfully conducted.
They consequently affirmed Dr. Asue Ighodalo as the rightful candidate of the PDP in the forthcoming September 21st Guber Election in Edo State.
The Court holds that the Plaintiffs in the lower court (before Ekwo J) were delegates and not aspirants.
Therefore, the subject was within the Internal Affairs of the Party.
The delegates were not aspirants and therefore had no locus to bring this suit, and the court therefore had no jurisdiction to hear the matter.
