Christ Army Church Dedicates 1000 Ultra-Modern Worship Auditorium at Ikwe

***We need to create enabling environment for church growth – Venerable Udonsek

The serene community of Ikwe in ONNA local government area of Akwa Ibom State came alive on Sunday, November 10, 2024 as Christ Army Church (GBC) dedicated a 1000 seaters new Ultra-Modern Worship Auditorium christened “City of Zion“, Ikwe Parish in Ikot Ebidang District, Akwa Ibom State Diocese.

The official dedication service was conducted by Prelate elect/National Chairman of Christ Army Church (GBC), His Eminence, Most Rev. M. J. Akpan.

In his homily, Most Rev. Akpan taking his reading from 1 Kings 9:1, said, “when Solomon had finished the building of the house of the Lord, and the king’s house, and all Solomon’s desire which he was pleased to do, that the Lord said unto him, I have heard thy prayer and thy supplication, that thou hast made before me: I have hallowed this house, which thou hast built, to put my name there for ever; and mine eyes and mine heart shall be there perpetually.

“And if thou wilt walk before me, as David thy father walked, in integrity of heart, and in uprightness, to do according to all that I have commanded thee, and wilt keep my statutes and my judgments: Then I will establish the throne of thy kingdom upon Israel for ever, as I promised to David thy father, saying, There shall not fail thee a man upon the throne of Israel.

He noted that Venerable Udonsek has built a house for God as Solomon did, assuring that God will fulfill all His promises to him if he obey His commandments and keep His statute, he will also be established.

Addressing the congregation, the District Superintendent/Host, Venerable David Udonsek, said the foundation of Ikwe and Ikot Ebekpo church were laid the same time and construction of both buildings have been going on and were completed simultaneously, despite some hitches at the Ikwe site.

He thanked the elders, women and youth of Ikwe for providing a conducive atmosphere for the commencement of the project till finish, praying God to bless them accordingly. He also acknowledged the support from his family and friends who came to witness the dedication service, asking God to bless and protect them respectively.

Udonsek maintained that the driving force behind his commitment to build churches is to create enabling environment for church growth, advising members of the church to be open minded, and work with good, inspired and informed people so as to move the church forward.

We need good people, inspired people, informed people to accomplish the mission of the ministry and move it forward. God want us to embrace peace and maintain good relationship with people who are informed, educated and inspired,” he noted.

Speaking further, the Ikot Ebidang born Engineer, intimated Ikwe Parish that they have moved from a desolate land to a new land flowing with milk and honey, appealing them to safeguard and protect the facility and other church properties handed over to them.

He passionately appealed to the landlord of the church to please reconcile with the existing survey plan so as to avoid any unforseen circumstances or disagreement of boundary in future, reiterating commitment to always work with the community to ensure the missionary work is fulfilled.

In his remarks, the Village Head of Ikwe, Eteidung Friday Inyang, said he is so impressed with Venerable Udonsek for bringing light to Ikwe through the building of the new edifice for Christ Army Church Ikwe, describing him as Nehemiah who built the desolate wall of Jericho.

Eteidung Inyang advised Christian to worship God wholeheartedly and with clean hands, else God will forsake them and hand them over to their enemies. The excited Eteidung said he is an agent of development, calling on more development initiative to be attracted to Ikwe community.

Obongiwaad Usoro Paulinus in his speech, acknowledged that the building of the church has brought light to Ikwe and attracted development to the community. He thanked Venerable Udonsek for reviving the church which was almost closed down, noting that he enjoy the new leadership of Christ Army Church which has opened doors for more worshippers compare to what was obtainable in the past.

The Project Supervisor/Manager of the building project, Nsikan Udonsek, disclosed that commissioning of City of Zion is in fulfillment of the prophesy that took place in 2005 during a church programme at Christ Army Church Ikwe, where God ministered through a prophet that his elder brother, Venerable Udonsek will help build the household of God. He disclosed that his response was, where will he get the money to build church since he wasn’t working then, but today, God bring His words to fulfillment. He urged Christian not to decline whenever God send them errand, maintaining that what He has promised, He will always come to pass.

A former Councillor from Ikwe, Hon. Emmanuel Ekpeyo, appreciated Venerable Udonsek for building a church in his community, which has opened a new vista in the history of the church. He commended him for his consistency in church building projects, assuring him that the community will protect the facility and put it to good use.

The Publisher of Ibom Agenda, Ebong Umofia, noted that Venerable Udonsek is God sent. He observed that all the new churches are situated in Oniong East and Awa, appealing for same gesture to be extended to Nung Ndem.

Different speakers took their turn to express appreciation to Venerable Udonsek for his forthrightness and zeal to invest in church building especially reviving Ikwe Church which was almost gone into extinction with a new building, noting that with the new edifice, more people have expressed willingness to worship with Christ Army Church in Ikwe.

The event featured song ministration by different choirs including Ikwe Choral voices, Christ Apostolic Church choir Ikwe, child dedication, among others.

Highpoint of the event was the official handing over of the land document, survey plan, drawing plan and power of attorney to the leadership of the church in Ikwe by Venerable Udonsek.

He listed some of the equipment handed over to Ikwe Parish to include 12 kv generator, 3 amplifier, mixer, equalizer, voice over, drilling of 3000 capacity water, 500 chairs, alter seat, 10 pieces of banquet chairs, among others, advising them to jealously guide and protect the equipment from being vandalized.
