Eunice Thomas joins WEOG Advisory Board

The Women in Energy, Oil and Gas, WEOG, has nominated a Non Executive Director on the Board of Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, Dr Eunice Thomas into its Advisory Board.

Dr. Thomas, a former commissioner in Akwa Ibom served from 2007 to 2013 in the Ministries of Women Affairs and Education respectively. She is the founder of Global Women Initiative (GWI).

The NNPCL NED, alongside five others were announced shortly before WEOG’s AGM on Friday, 7th February, 2025, as new Advisory Board Members by its National President, Dr. Oladunni Owo. Owo is also the Principal Consultant of Blackgold Energy.

Other members appointed into the Board are: Duchess Dolapo Kotun – ED Ikwe Onna Refinery/Director WEOG U.S.A; Mrs Hansatu Adegbite – UN Women/IP ED WIMBIZ; Mrs. Eyesan – IP EVP Upstream, NNPC Group; Dr. Daeere Akobo – Chairman Pana Holdings/PE Energy; and Barr. Mrs Ifejika – Chairperson, BrittaniaU Group.

“These exceptional leaders bring a wealth of expertise, experience, exposure, passion, and dedication to our organization, energy, oil and gas industry, and womanhood at large,” said Owo while announcing the nomination.

“Their contributions will be invaluable in shaping our strategic direction, advancing our mission, growth and sustainability,” she submitted.

Reacting to the development, the Matron of WEOG, Susan Morrice, who spoke from Denver — Colorado, said she was excited about the additions as they reflect a great cross section of women in the industry.

Morrice, who is Co-Founder/Chairperson, Belize Natural Energy, Belize, described the organization as a group of people with a common vision and common goal to ignite others to make practical and profound change in the energy industry locally and globally.

She thanked the outgoing Board for the successes it recorded and welcomed the incoming one, expressing optimism that it will make remarkable imprints and bring more women to the fore.
