EX GOV ATTAH, PDP LEADERS, OTHERS VISIT NDUESE ESSIEN AHEAD OF LATE WIFE’S BURIAL, AUGUST 30
As the Friday August 30th burial date of Late Obonganwan Ekaette Nduese Essien draws nearer, more groups and individuals have visited to condole the Senatorial District Political Leader of Eket, Rt. Hon. Nduese Essien, in Eket.
A group of Statesmen, led by the former Governor of Akwa Ibom state, Arc. (Obong) Victor Attah, blazed the trail on Wednesday morning, when they paid a visit to the former Federal lawmaker, Chief Nduese Essien at his country home in Eket.
Under the aegis of Akwa Ibom Elders Council, the group’s delegation also had Senator Emmanuel Ibokessien, Chief Bassey Dan Abia(Snr), Justice Idongesit Ntem Isua, Justice Godwin Abraham, Obong Obot Etukafia, Chief Bassey Itama, Dr Okon Emah, Obong Rita Akpan, Obonganwan Grace Ekong, among others.
Similarly, another group, Akwa Ibom PDP Elders Council, also visited the bereaved leader of the Eket Senatorial District, sympathizing with him and encouraging him to be strong in the Lord.
Led by its deputy chairman, Engr. Billy Etuk, they restate their resolve to always stand by Chief Essien, who is their Board of Trustees member.
When a group of former National Assembly members converged, it went nostalgic moments as they forum relished memorable moments in the House of Representatives, and also spoke about the current economic situation in the country.
Led by Obong Eno Akpan, it was a synergy of all the political divides, with Abom Tony Esu, Hon Eseme Eyiboh, Dr. Esio Oquong Udoh, Chief Akan Eyo, Dcns Owoidighe Ekpoatai, Chief Soni Udom, among others all agreed with Chief Essien, on the need for the forum to always assemble together often and make suggestions towards the country’s development.
The capping of the visits was arrival of a strong delegation of PDP State working committee, led by the State Chairman, Elder Aniekan Akpan, who described the Obonganwan Ekaette Essien’s departure as a big loss to the PDP family in the State.
Describing Chief Essien as a pillar of the party in Akwa Ibom, he prayed for him to remain stronger as his sound counsel and leadership role is still being desired by the State’s ruling party.
At each visit, Rt Hon. Nduese Essien commended the guests for their demonstration of love and support to him.
He said his union with his wife of 57 years was so memorable that he had not given a thought to life without her.
Chief Essien said despite being traumatized by her sudden departure, he was strengthened by the encouragements that she was resting peacefully in God’s bossom as opposed to being subjected to series of pains and struggle.
Lamenting that despite all the efforts by successive Governments to address the health care needs of the State, people still work hard to sabotage the investments thereby exposing the population to grave danger.
The condolence visits on Thursday August 29, will however be punctuated by a visit to the Qua Iboe Church, Ikot Ibiok, for a service of songs holding from 5pm.
The burial holds next day, Friday at the Cenotaph ground, beside the Eket Stadium by 10am.
