GIFA: ESIT EKET COUNCIL BOSS LAUDS LADY HELEN OBAREKI ON MEDICAL OUTREACH
Commends Gov Umo Eno’s efforts towards improved healthcare delivery in A’Ibom
The Chairman of Esit Eket Local Government Area, Hon. Mrs. Uduak Ikemesit Ikot, has lauded the First Lady Designate, Mrs. Helen Eno Obareki, for her remarkable efforts in organizing a one-day Medical Outreach for the people of Eket Senatorial District.
Speaking at the Esit Eket council Secretariat, Uquo, the Council Boss acknowledged Obareki’s continued support for humanity and continuation of her mother’s vision, noting her effort at disease control, good healthcare services and support for children and the elderly.
Ikot commended the coordinator of the office of the First Lady, Mrs. Obareki, for choosing Esit Eket as the host local government in the senatorial district. Furthermore, Ikot highlighted the continuous support of the Governor, HE, Pastor Umo Eno, in healthcare services, which she described as significant, and has yielded tangible results within and outside the state.
While addressing the beneficiaries, the Special Assistant to the Governor on General Duties, Pastor (Dr) Anne Abraham said GIFA, which is an acronym for Golden Initiative For All, is a non-profit organisation that aims to complement the efforts of the government by undertaking various programmes and projects that supports, promotes and improves the lives of women, children, and the vulnerable in the state.

In her remarks, the first lady designate, Lady Helen Eno Obareki, who is the coordinator of the office of the first lady of Akwa Ibom State and GIFA, thanked the people of Eket Senatorial District for the credence given her.
Represented by the member representing Oron/Udung Uko state constituency Hon. Kenim Onofiok, the first lady designate listed her key focus areas to include maternal and child health, literacy and learning, environmental health, women empowerment, disease prevention, and care for the elderly. She thanked the Governor for his unending support; alongside the volunteers, partners, and wives of chairmen.
In a goodwill message, the wife of the Chairman of Idong Uko, Mrs. Elizabeth Etim, who spoke on behalf of the wives of the council chairmen, eulogized the first lady designate for her positive strides towards the welfare of the people of Akwa Ibom, reassuring her of the continual support of the wives of the local government chairmen.
The program was witnessed by the immediate past Commissioner for Women Affairs/Social Welfare Dr. Ini Adiakpan, Vice Chairman of Ikot Ekpene LGA, Hon. Abigail Akpan, former Vice Chairman of Itu LGA, Hon. Emem Ekpanaya, wife of the former chairman of Ikono LGC, Mrs. Ekaette Columba, Esit Eket Council Secretary, Comrade Godwin Elijah, SA to the Governor on Support Groups, Mr. Wiser Etangkanga, Mrs Ime Essien, Mrs Joana Ide Owodiong, amongst others.
