GOV ENO INAUGURATES PROJECT DELIVERY, MONITORING TEAM
… warns against defective project assessments
“Make sure the data you present to me every time is accurate and represents the true status of the project. If you tell me it is fifty percent and I stop by and discover the work is 10 or 20 percent, then God help you because you will lose your job that day.
“You may have come from the Ministry or anywhere, but you are responsible to the Governor now and as you report to the Executive Delivery Advisor, don’t allow anyone to influence your reports.”
Above where charged by Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, when he inaugurated a fourteen-man Project Delivery and Monitoring Team with a charge to monitor all projects of government across the State, on Senatorial District basis, to expedite completion and quality delivery.
Performing the inauguration of the team at Government House, Uyo, Friday, January 10, 2025, Governor Umo Eno directed immediate commencement of diligent monitoring of all ongoing projects in the State, to examine the projects with aim to ascertain the current level, assess percentage of completion and report directly to the Executive Assistant and Chief Delivery Advisor in the Office of the Governor.
This assignment, he added, does not replace the usual monitoring role played by Ministries and agencies responsible for each project.
According to the Governor, the essence of the Projects Monitoring and Delivery Team is to ensure timely completion of projects in line with his promise to provide good governance and deliver dividends of democracy to Akwa Ibom people.
“You are expected to provide an update on every project done by any Ministry, in the Senatorial District that you are allocated and you will be reporting to the Executive Assistant to the Governor and Chief Delivery Advisor. You must report accurately. Some of you are Engineers some are quantity surveyors, follow the specifications.”
Further stressing the importance of the task before them, Governor Eno cautioned the committees to resist the temptation of being induced by contractors to make misleading reports, tasking them to rather uphold objectivity and integrity in their assessment and reportage.
Giving an update of ongoing projects on which to commence monitoring, he enumerated: 27 road construction projects and 17 other projects in Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District; 39 roads and 22 other projects in Eket Senatorial District; and 54 roads as well as 54 other projects in Uyo Senatorial District.
The Governor also issued utility vehicles to each team to aid their activities.
The Uyo Monitoring team is led by Engr Charles Okorie, SSA on Technical Matters to the Governor, Ubong Linus SA on Projects to the Governor, Engr Abasiama Akai of the Ministry of Works, Isaac Sam Akpan of the Delivery Unit and Mr Emmanuel Akpabio, Personal Assistant on Media to the Governor.
The Eket Senatorial District team is led by Engr. Ime Akpan and also has Dr. Essien Ndueso – SSA to the Governor on Research and Documentation, Barr Ememobong Nicholas, SSA to the Governor on Legal Documentation and Engr Joseph Udo Asamudo from the Ministry of Works as members.
Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District has Engr Aniefiok Usoro as Team Lead, with members including Princess Itoro Obot of the Project Team, Engr Ekpedeme Okon Ekpo of the Ministry of Special Duties, Engr Idongesit Eno Ben of the Ministry of Works and Engr. Solomon Eyo, SA on Website and Multimedia Streaming.
