By Effanga Usen

The Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno has enjoined Mr. Daniel-Joshua Cletus Bassey and wife, Edionoabasi, to make mutual understanding, submission and unconditional love, the cornerstone of their marriage.

Governor Eno gave the admonition recently at the wedding of Mr. Daniel-Joshua Cletus Bassey, son of Arch Bishop Cletus Bassey and his heartthrob, former Miss Edionoabasi Utibe-eno, daughter of Pastor (Dr.) Utibe-eno which took place at Destiny Chapel, Ewet Housing Estate, Uyo.

The Governor who spoke through his Deputy, Senator Akon Eyakenyi, said every successful marriage is founded on submission, mutual understanding, unconditional love and above all godliness.

He advised the newly wedded couple to not bring any third party into their union, but should rather commit every challenge they may encounter to God through prayer.

Congratulating the new couple for a successful marriage ceremony, Governor Eno said by so doing they will enjoy a lasting marital union devoid of controversy, quarrel and breakup.

Pastor E. A. Effiom who presided said marriage was the closest relationship that exist between human beings.

Pastor Effiom stressed that husbands and wives are joined together the same way Jesus is joined with the Church, reminding the couple that the husband remains the head of the family, hence the need for the wife to submit to him for peace to reign.

Advising the newly wedded couple, Rev. Uma Ukpai of Uma Ukpai Evangelical Mission said the duo were not good enough to be enemies. Rev. Ukpai who recounted his marital journey of 50 years, stressed that faithfulness and trust in God remains the secret of blessings in marriage and urged them to wholly rely on God for a successful marriage.

The event had dignitaries across the state and beyond amongst them the spouse of the Deputy Governor, Elder Etim Eyakenyi; wife of the immediate past Governor, Dr. Mrs. Martha Udom Emmanuel; Senator Bassey Albert Akpan, Rev. Uma Ukpai, Rev. Sylvanus Ukafia and Arch Bishop Udeme Simon.

Others were Pastor Akan Weeks, Pastor Nick Iheanacho amongst others.
