MR. MELFORD ASUQUO TAKES HELM AS NEW PRESIDENT OF AKWA IBOM STATE PAGEANT ORGANIZERS FORUM
In a notable development for the pageant assemblage in Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Melford Asuquo has been elected as the new President of the Akwa Ibom State Pageant Organizers Forum. In his acceptance speech, Mr. Asuquo quoted Abraham Lincoln, stating, “No man is good enough to govern another man without that other’s consent,” highlighting the importance of consensual leadership and the collective efforts required for the betterment of the pageant industry.
Addressing the forum, Mr. Asuquo expressed his gratitude to the organizers for entrusting him with the responsibility of leadership. He outlined his vision for the future of pageantry in Akwa Ibom, focusing on the need to sanitize, strengthen, and grow the sector by implementing international best practices. His commitment to reform aims to eliminate low-quality pageants and unethical practices that have plagued the industry.
He also took the opportunity to acknowledge the significant contributions of various individuals who have been instrumental in the pageant community’s development. He thanked Mrs. Princess Ekamma Aniekan Henry, organizer of Miss Oro; Mrs. Precious Cletus, franchise holder of Mr. and Miss Akwa Ibom; and his campaign director and agent, B. Esuh Jnr, organizer of Miss Eket. He also recognized Ghadween Smart, organizer of Akwa Ibom Iconic Queen; Evang. Ukeme Michael, International President of the Association of Beauty Queens and Kings; and Mr. NsikanAbasi Udoh, a prominent pageant consultant. Special mention was made of Princess Hilda Okon and many others for their unwavering support and dedication.
Speaking to our correspondence, Mr. Asuquo emphasized his commitment to fostering a more professional and transparent pageant environment in Akwa Ibom State. “We are determined to set a new standard that will be recognized nationwide. By adhering to global best practices, we will ensure that our pageants are not only fair and competitive but also enriching for all participants,” he said.
With a focus on unity and integrity, Mr. Melford Asuquo’s leadership is set to usher in a new era for the Akwa Ibom State pageant sector. His administration aims to collaborate closely with all stakeholders to enhance the credibility and prestige of pageantry in the region.
