NATIONAL DEFENCE COLLEGE LAUDS GOV ENO’S COMMITMENT TO EDUCATIONAL ADVANCEMENT, YOUTH DEVELOPMENT
Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has been commended by the National Defence College, NDC, Abuja, for his dedicated commitment to the advancement of education and other milestone achievements under the ARISE agenda.
The Director, Information and Communications Technology of the NDC, Air Commodore Ayodele Famuyiwa, gave the commendation on Thursday, November 7, 2024, shortly after he led a delegation of the College’s Course 33 on a study tour to the Christ the King Model Primary School in Uyo.
According Famuyiwa, the week-long tour to the oil-rich State with the theme “Strengthening National Unity for Security and Development in Nigeria – Akwa Ibom State in perspective,” was crucial and forms a part of study activities in the military that seeks to expose officers
to a lot of happenings across the federation.
The NDC Director of ICT who was impressed by the quality of infrastructure in the model school, also disclosed that the choice of Akwa Ibom State for this year’s tour was informed by the enormous strides of Governor Umo Eno in youth development.
“The NDC decided to choose Akwa Ibom State this year, because the incumbent administration of Governor Umo Eno has committed so much effort to youth empowerment. On that regards, there is a spring board in Akwa Ibom State that we can leverage on as a nation.
“The ARISE Blueprint and the effort of the government is very clear. In those 5 key areas of Agriculture, Rural Development, Infrastructure, Security and Education, the State which was somewhere before, is now where it is today. Though there is need for improvement, we sincerely commend the Governor.”
Noting that the NDC was established 33 years ago as the apex military training institution, he said the institution has a mandate to develop future strategic leaders sufficiently equipped to harness the instruments of national power in a dynamic defence and security environment.
Earlier, the Executive Chairman, State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, Rt. Hon. Anietie Etuk, who was on ground with his management staff and the Head Teacher of the school to welcome the NDC delegation to the model school, thanked the military for the choice of Akwa Ibom State for the week-long tour.
Etuk while expressing appreciation to Governor Eno for the massive investment in the education sector which has made Akwa Ibom a model State and cynosure of all eyes, assured of his board’s continuous support for the ARISE agenda.
High point of the visit was a facility tour around the state-of-the art model Primary school by the NDC delegation which was made up of top military officials drawn from different countries.
In all the classes, the pupils fully kitted with free uniforms donated by the state government, were seen receiving lessons under a very conducive learning environment.
