ETIOKWE FOILS ANOTHER VANDALIZATION ON GOVERNMENT FACILITY IN OKON OIL PROCESSING SETTLEMENT ( EREI FARM)

Hon. Chief Kalu Mba Nwoke (Etiokwe), Member representing Ohafia South State Constituency in the Abia State House Of Assembly has successfully thwarted another attempt at vandalizing and stealing of government property at the Okon Oil processing settlement, popularly called “Erei farm”, situated in Ohafia Local Government area.

Chief Etiokwe, driven by his commitment to the efforts of Dr. Otti’s agenda, which prioritizes a zero-tolerance policy towards criminal activities in the state, swiftly responded to a distress call regarding the ongoing vandalism and potential theft of metal tanks and other essential materials at the site.

Collaborating with stakeholders and good people of Okon Aku, Chief Mba Nwoke engaged the Nigerian army to apprehend the culprits who were already conveying the items to an unknown destination. The perpetrators were promptly apprehended and handed over to the police. Fearing the recurring issue of vandals being coddled, the lawmaker reported the matter to Zone 9, Umuahia, for a thorough investigation.

Subsequent investigations uncovered the alleged involvement of Mr. Mmecha Ume, the president of Okon Development Union. Ume purportedly authorized the sale of the property and provided his company account details, through which approximately 4.1 million naira was transferred.

In response to the lawmaker’s proactive measures, the residents of Okon Aku expressed their gratitude in a letter addressed to Chief Kalu Mba Nwoke. They commended him for consistently responding swiftly to security concerns within Ohafia South and urged the government to take control of the contested property to prevent future similar incidents.

This and other acts of Chief Kalu Mba Nwoke reflect a determination to safeguard government assets and uphold the principles of security within the region. The incident underscores the need for vigilant community involvement, and proactive measures taken against criminal activities targeting private and public properties.
