“Peace is priceless” Abia Deputy Speaker Charges newly elected Umuana Ibeku Community Executives.

Peaceful communal coexistence has been described as a panacea for development in all strata of a people’s socio economic and political wellbeing with an all inclusive leadership which engenders accelerated growth and impact.

The Deputy Speaker, Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Augustine Okezie made these remarks after the election of Umuana Ibeku Community executives at Amaudara Ground, Umuana Ibeku.

Rt Hon Augustine Okezie noted that the Umuana Ibeku Community is iconic having produced the first Military Head of State of Nigeria, late General Johnson Thomas Aguiyi-Ironsi, adding that the community cannot afford any rancor so as to position them for optimal productivity.

The newly elected Chairman of Umuana Ibeku Community, Mr Ohaeri Otuonye, in his remarks said Umuana as a whole won the elections, submitting that the new administration shall be fair to all.

Mr Leonard Ifeanacho Ogbonna, who also contested for the position of Chairman, on behalf of other contestants pledged to lend their support to the elected executive as all hands must be on deck to move Umuana Ibeku forward.

Other members of the newly elected executives include Mmeregini Agodichi as Vice Chairman, Nwokeoma Anozie, Obasi Uchenna and Nwoko Enyinna, who were returned unopposed as Secretary, Financial Secretary and Assistant Secretary respectively, Onuoha Kingsley as Treasurer, George Ejim as Public Relations Officer and Uzoma Ogbuleke as Provost.

www.newsadmiral.com gathered that the election was generally peaceful as indigenes of Umuana Ibeku trooped out in their numbers to participate in the election which had been elusive for over 10 years, as conducted by officials of the Abia State Independent Electoral Commission and monitored by Centre for Excellence and Performance in Governance, CEPG, other Civil Society Organizations and the Media.
