RECAP-THE MYSTERY AND SIGNIFICANCE OF CHRISTMAS: PERSPECTIVE ON PHILOSOPHICAL AND SCIENTIFIC FACTS
Some weeks ago, prior to the Christmas Eve of the year 2021, being with a camping party in a reclusive location of Western Africa, I returned from a solitary reading location to find everyone engaged in a ferocious metaphysical debate. The form of this debate was a remark by a Christian religious woman who went for money debit at Automated Teller Machine (ATM), sighted by an old friend of hers, and greeted with the mantra of a “Merry Christmas”, the woman was reported to have retorted that Christmas was not part of the Biblical scripture and therefore the mere mentioning of it is satanic. She strongly warned her friend to refrain from Christmas celebration so as to be delisted from list of candidates for hell fire. Everyone had taken sides, and was obstinate; and the numbers on both sides were even. Both sides, when I appeared, were hopeful that my view in support to them will make a majority. Each group practically appealed to me to join them. Mindful of the scholastic maxim that whenever you meet a paradox, you must make a distinction, I immediately responded to them as follows:
“Which party among you is right about the Divine sacredness or otherwise satanic adoration associated with Christmas, can only be found in what an individual practically mean by Christmas in the depth of his heart. Remember that everything in the Universe is a “vibration”. In humans, a vibration is composed of the motive, the thought and the act. The motive defines the essence of judgment”.
Arguments for and against the Christmas celebration have been going on for decades, and in fact since the middle of the 19th century. The two principal grounds in a plethora of arguments against Christmas have been advanced directly by folks of the Christian sect who believe that anything that is unrecorded in the Bible is unscriptural and therefore satanic. They argue that Christmas is not recorded in the Bible and that there is no evidence that Jesus the Christ was born on December 25. These set of people, I am sorry to say, I believe are limited in their intellectual and mental disposition.
As recorded in the Biblical John 16: 12, Jesus himself had said,
“ I have yet many things to say unto you , but ye cannot bear them now”.
That is to say many things Jesus had wished to teach His disciples, but the consciousness of His disciples and the spiritual energy of the planet Earth at that era could not bear those mysteries. So the instant Bible does not hold absolute information about history and mystery of Jesus Christ and the Universe.
The third argument against Christmas is predicated on the basis of historical rationality. The anti-Christmas debaters submit that the root of Christmas is traceable to Paganism. The ancient Roman festivals of the honour to the sun god – sol invictus or mithra.
