SENATE PRESIDENT, GODSWILL AKPABIO DESCRIBES DEATH OF A’IBOM FIRST LADY AS NATIONAL LOSS
President of the Nigerian Senate, Chief Godswill Akpabio, GCON, has described the demise of Akwa Ibom State First Lady, Pastor ( Mrs.) Patience Umo Eno as a great loss to the family, the State and the nation in general.

Speaking during a condolence visit to the Governor, the first family, and the people of Akwa Ibom State, Senator Akpabio said the late First Lady was a virtuous woman who stood by her husband, and greatly supported the aged, and vulnerable through her pet project, Golden Initiative for All (GIFA).
Akpabio maintained that her humility and support for the Governor enabled him to achieve his inclusive and unifying objectives, adding that she would be greatly missed.
He also acknowledged that the late First Lady was a major pilar for the Governor and his administration, adding that she was “Madam stabilizer.”
Senator Akpabio assured the Governor that he was not alone in this moment of grief, and urged him to be strong especially as a Christian who knows that there is a better life hereafter.
He said the deceased was a woman of God and applauded the Governor for the choice of his first daughter, Mrs Helen Obareki as Coordinator of GIFA saying that will help to sustain the good works of the Late First Lady.
In his remark, Governor Eno appreciated the Senate President for his show of love, adding that it has always been his desire to have a united State where everyone stands up for all irrespective of political party differences.
He congratulated the Senate President on his conferment with the national honour of the GCON, and also appreciated President Bola Tinubu GCFR, for the honour on the former Akwa Ibom State Governor.
“This visit means a lot to me, my family and the State. I have always prayed that the State will be united and our people will work together. Akwa Ibom State has become a model State for the country and beyond. We will continue to ensure that we build a united State for the good of all.”
He also appreciated everyone for their condolences and prayers, and reiterated his commitment to ensuring that the pet project of the First Lady, Golden Initiative For All (GIFA), as well as other humanitarian gestures are sustained.
Governor Eno noted further that his first daughter, Mrs Helen Obareki will coordinate the activities of GIFA to enable it actualize its full purpose in remembrance and honour of the late First Lady.
In company of the Senate President were; Senators Aniekan Bassey and Ekong Sampson representing Uyo and Eket Senatorial Districts respectively, and the member representing Etinan Federal Constituency, Hon. Paul Ekpo, Senator Ita Enang and others.
On hand to receive the visitors with the Governor were; Deputy Governor, Senator Akon Eyakenyi, Senator Effiong Bob, DG of Campaign, Ambassador Asam Asam, Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, Commissioner for Information, Comrade Ini Ememobong, and others.
