As RAAMP Expands Rural Road Infrastructure in Uruan, set to construct popular Issiet Beach Market

The Akwa Ibom State Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP) is steadfastly fulfilling its mission to enhance rural, agricultural, and market roadways throughout Akwa Ibom State, thereby boosting commerce and economic activity.

This initiative, supported by the Akwa Ibom State Government, the World Bank, and the African Development Bank, has been actively initiating road construction projects across the state.
The most recent project site inaugurated is the 4-kilometer Ekim Enen-Esuk Odu road located in the Uruan Local Government Area. This undertaking will be executed in three phases, with the first phase officially commencing today.
Pastor Gideon Akpan, the RAAMP coordinator, indicated that the overall project will cover approximately 12 kilometers, with the initial phase extending 4 kilometers from Ekim Enem to Esuk Odu Beach.
He assured the local communities of their collaboration with the contracting firm to expedite the project’s progress. This partnership will involve providing security and ensuring a peaceful environment throughout the construction period.

The project manager from Rosh’Es, the civil engineering firm responsible for the construction, echoed their commitment, promising timely completion in accordance with the contractual agreement.
Senator Aniekan Bassey, representing the Uyo Senatorial District in the National Assembly and apolitical leader of Uruan, praised Governor Umo Bassey Eno for his efforts in driving development within the state through the RAAMP initiative.
He expressed pride in the governor’s accomplishments in Uruan and gratitude for the road project, which serves as a crucial economic artery for the local community, particularly for the timber industry.
“My joy knows no bounds today, as the RAAMP coordinator has informed us that construction will soon begin on the Issiet Beach market , alongside the Nturupum and Eman Ukpa roads,” Senator Bassey remarked.
He extended blessings to Governor Eno for his dedication to the rural areas of State as enshrined in his Arise Agenda , that he is committed to ensuring a peaceful collaboration between the community and the construction company.
Senator Bassey also urged village leaders, youth, and women in the area to support the contractors and maintain peace throughout the project’s duration.
Engr. J.B. Effiong, the Deputy, the deputy Political Leader of Uruan, described the governor as a divine blessing to the people of Akwa Ibom, working tirelessly to lift the impoverished from hardship.
Other attendees included village heads from Esuk Odu and Ekim Enem, who expressed their appreciation for the governor’s benevolent initiatives.
Notable figures at the event also included High Chief Emmanuel Nicholas, media aide to the governor, and political leader of central Uruan Ward 4, and Hon. Nsikak Bassey, political leader of Southern Uruan Ward 2.
