SENATOR EKONG SAMPSON PROMISES SUPPORT TO GOV ENO, RECEIVES ACCOLADES FROM SENATORIAL DISTRICT LEADERS
The Senator representing Eket Senatorial District, Senator Ekong Sampson has assured that he will continue to galvanize the support of his colleagues in the National Assembly towards the success of the Umo Eno -led government in Akwa Ibom State.

Ekong who is the chairman of the Akwa Ibom State caucus in the National Assembly, said he and his colleagues are happy with the synergy existing with Governor Umo Eno, as this will bring more people-oriented projects to the State.
He appreciated the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio for his support which has helped him recorded the achievements for Eket senatorial district
The event was a briefing of Stakeholders by the Akwa Ibom South Senator and Chairman, Senate Committee on Solid Minerals, at the Ikot Ibiok residence of the Political Leader of the Senatorial District, Chief Nduese Essien, in Eket, Akwa Ibom State.

Senator Sampson expressed profound gratitude to stakeholders and through them, the entire people of the Senatorial District, whose continuous support and encouragement, he said, have formed the bedrock of his eventful representation and added steam to his legislative advocacy on and off the floor of the Senate.
He paid glowing tributes to the immediate past Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, for his ingenuity in charting a path of peace and stability for Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District and the State at large.
“So far, with your kind support, one can say, with every sense of humility, that Akwa Ibom South is covering good grounds in the Senate”, Senator Sampson stated.

In a recap of his engagements at the red chamber, Senator Samson said Akwa Ibom South has had its voice heard loudly with Bills including: Bill for the Establishment of Federal University of Technology, Ikot Abasi which, he affirmed has passed its 2nd Reading, Bill for the Establishment of Federal University of Medical Sciences, Eket, Bill for the Establishment of Federal Medical Centre in Akwa Ibom South, Bill for the Establishment of Solid Minerals Development Fund, among others.
Furthermore, “I have equally championed a number of Motions including Need for Increased Security Surveillance in Coastal Areas of Akwa Ibom South, Need for Urgent remediation of dilapidated Federal Roads across Nigeria, Call for Urgent reconstruction of Calabar-Itu Highway, co-sponsored with Senator Asuquo Ekpenyong, with many others filed to be taken.
“Working with our other stakeholders and well-meaning Nigerians, I am also strongly pushing for the long anticipated take-off of University of Maritime Studies Oron. My vision is to ensure that we achieve a tripod of federal tertiary education in each of the three Federal Constituencies of Akwa Ibom South”, he added.
On constituency projects he enumerated: a massive erosion control project in Ekeya, Okobo LGA, construction of ICT/CBT Centres in St Vincent, Oti-oro, Okobo, St Francis Secondary School, Eket, construction of Staff Quarters at Excellence College, Mkpat Enin, construction of School Block at Federal University of Technology, (FUTIA) Ikot Abasi LGA, opening of roads in Mbo, Onna, Mkpat Enin LGAs and Provision of Solar Powered Streetlights in Uquo, Esit Eket LGA.
Explaining why he had to take the erosion control constituency project to Ekeya in Okobo LGA, Senator Ekong Sampson maintained that his spread of intervention, in terms of employments and projects, indicates his respects for the diversity of the area and will be sustained.
“As the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Solid Minerals, I have been discussing with the Akwa Ibom State Government towards driving an SPV for exploration and keying into opportunities in the sector.
“Our State is richly endowed and I have to thank our Governor, His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno for the interest he has shown in our State investing in the Solid Minerals Sector.
“I’ve been intentional in ensuring that every strand of our diverse mix was catered for in the project conceptualization and spread, moreso, given the diversity in our Senatorial District, and my avowed commitment to respecting our plurality.
Various stakeholders of Akwa Ibom South Senatorial District who spoke, commended Senator Ekong Sampson for the remarkable impact he has recorded in his first few months in office.
In his speech at the event, the leader of the Senatorial District, Chief Nduese Essien, expressed satisfaction with Ekong Sampson’s representation of the Senatorial District and stressed the need for Akwa Ibom South to gun for the advantages of having a ranking memeber in the Senate, describing Senator Sampson as well fitting for the role.
According to Chief Essien, the leaders and people of the Senatorial District made no mistakes in electing Ekong Sampson, maintaining that the Senator, in his representation, has brought to bear his experience in the politics of the National Assembly from the days of Senator Udoma where he served as Senior Legislative Aide and his various traverse in the state and national politics.
Adding their voices to the endorsements were immediate past Secretary to the Government of Akwa Ibom State, Dr. Emmanuel Ekuwen, on behalf of Oron Federal Constituency; A Professor of Geology and major stakeholder in Eket, Etie Ben Akpan, for Eket Federal Constituency; and former House of Reps Member, Hon. Akpan Micah Umoh, for Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency.
Others who also spoke in affirmation of the mandate were the Women Leaders of the Senatorial District, Mrs Idara Ephraim Akpan and the Senatorial District Youth Leader, Engr Ben Edenseting, declaring their support for the sentiments expressed by the Senatorial District leader.
