promising continued support from the people
In a town square meeting that attracted political stakeholders, traditional rulers, youth leaders, and community members from all walks of life, the immediate past Dean of the College of Commissioners and Political Leader of Obot Akara, Sir Monday Ebong Uko, praised the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, for his exceptional leadership and commitment to the development of Obot Akara Local Government Area.
Addressing the gathering on April 17, 2025, Sir Monday Uko expressed his deep appreciation for the Governor’s initiation and execution of impactful projects that have brought unprecedented development to the area. He highlighted key infrastructural achievements, such as the construction of Usaka Annang Road, the Mbiaso Bridge, the establishment of model schools, and world-class medical facilities. He described these projects as symbols of inclusive governance and grassroots impact.
These projects are not just structures; they represent hope, progress, and the government’s genuine concern for the welfare of our people,” said Sir Uko. “Governor Umo Eno has demonstrated through action that people should not politicise development. He has given Obot Akara a significant place in the Arise Agenda and shown that every community matters.”
Sir Monday, a respected grassroots mobilizer and former Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, acknowledged the positive ripple effects these projects will have once completed. He noted that they will improve mobility, access to healthcare and education, and enhance economic activity within the local government area.
In a show of statesmanship, Sir Monday assured that the people of Obot Akara, regardless of political affiliation, are united to support Governor Umo Eno’s administration. He urged all residents to remain peaceful, cooperative, and focused on development, pledging that Obot Akara would continue to align with the policies and programs of the state government for the greater good.
The people of Obot Akara are grateful, and beyond politics, we are ready to give our full support to this administration. We will continue to work with the government to ensure that Obot Akara remains a model of unity, peace, and progress,” he concluded.
