URUEOFFONG/ ORUKO COUNCIL BOSS TASKS STAFF ON PROMPT SERVICE DELIVERY

Warns against negligence, laxity and laziness

The Executive Chairman, Urue Offong/Oruko Local Government Council, Rt. Hon. (Chief) Uno Etim Uno, has urged Council staff to be committed to prompt service delivery, emphasizing that it will no longer be business as usual.

Chief Uno made the statement on Tuesday while inspecting deteriorating sections of the Oruko-Eyulor Road in the Local Government Area.

During the inspection, the Chairman frowned at the failure of the Director of Works, Mr. Sampson Udofia Sampson, to complete the necessary remedial work on the affected portions of the road as earlier directed by him.

He said for his vision for the Local Government Area to be actualized for the benefit of the people, members of his team must not only be ready to work, they must also respect timelines and deadlines.

“I am not a politician on a picnic. I am here to work and affect my people positively.

“We are not going to accept excuses as replacements for performance. No, it won’t work. Where I am coming from, work is taken seriously and it is exactly what will happen in Urueoffong/Oruko Local Government in my tenure.

“We must do the little things within our power to make life easier for our people. If we cannot construct roads at the moment, we can at least mend those failed portions so that transportation will not be impeded in the Local Government Area.

“To function in the new Urueoffong/Oruko Local Government Area we are trying to build, all members of my team must eschew laziness, laxity and negligence. Everyone must play their role without undue abdication or excuses.” He said.

Chief Uno directed the Director of Works and other relevant officials to ensure the remedial work on the road was immediately completed or risk sanctions.

The Chairman’s routine on – the – spot assessment of infrastructures and public utilities within the Local Government Area since assumption of office, underscores his commitment to making life more meaningful for the people, improving infrastructures and promoting effective service delivery in the Local Government Area.
