YOU ARE A CARING AND COMPASSIONATE LEADER, FRIDAY AKPAN HAILS GOV ENO

hosts Edutrip beneficiaries in London

The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Protocol, Europe, Mr Friday Akpan has hailed the humane disposition of Pastor Umo Eno, describing him as a caring and compassionate leader.

Mr. Akpan stated this while playing host to the beneficiaries of Akwa Ibom State/United Kingdom Edutrip in the United Kingdom recently.

Briefing the team led by the Commissioner for Information, Mr. Ini Ememobong, Mr. Akpan applauded Governor Umo Eno for his continuous commitment and investment in education which gave birth to the Akwa Ibom State/UK Edutrip.

According to him, Governor Umo Eno through his Arise Agenda has over time showed determination in bettering the lives of Akwa Ibom people especially in education, has done exceedingly well with the Edutrip initiative.

Speaking further, he revealed that the Governor painstakingly ensured that the beneficiaries were selected on merit and had no affiliation whatsoever with influential people in the state.

My heart is filled with joy seeing you all here today. Permit me to use this opportunity to laud our Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, for this very lofty initiative as it goes a long way to show his commitment to education in the state. Let me also say that he painstakingly made sure that all the beneficiaries here are on merit. Nobody has any affiliation with the high and mighty. This idea is solely aimed at giving succor to the less privileged who are brilliant educationally,” he said.

Speaking further, Mr. Akpan charged the beneficiaries to be good Akwa Ibom ambassadors of the Arise Agenda and also be of good conduct during their stay in London.

The Akwa Ibom State/United Kingdom Edutrip is an initiative by the Akwa Ibom State Government which students are selected from public secondary schools in rural areas of the 31 Local Government Areas of the state, through an examination. These students are scheduled to undertake taster sessions at Imperial College, University of Cambridge, and Coventry University in addition to study tours to the National Maritime Museum, the Royal Observatory, The National Arts Gallery, Science Museum and the museum of natural history, etc.

The event was attended by leaders of Akwa Ibom community in the UK, notably: Mrs Mary Enang – Chairperson Ati Annang UK, Pastor Etukudo Bassey, President Eket Union Uk/Ireland, Aniefonama Jacob Secretary Mboho Mkparawa Ibibio, Akparawa Imoh Itieimoh , a community leader in the UK, ⁠Eng. Eneawan Ebong, Dr Ignatius Ekanem, ⁠Madam Ekaete Ebong Okon ,Members of Asian Iban , ⁠Mr Shittu – Ex Mayor of Southwark Council Uk. ⁠Akparawa Elvis Abia and many others.
